Welcome to the Rio Cuarto Canton. There is so much happening here!
Here, you are in the heart of pineapple country and minutes from the mountains. From our main road three volcanoes are visible on a clear day and in less than an hour you can be at the Arenal Volcano or Juan Castro Blanco National Parks. A thirty minute drive can take you to lush lakes and within 45 minutes, you can be hiking through the mountains to a hidden waterfall or dipping (if you can handle the chill) in a clear, crisp mountain pool. You could also consider exploring a nearby wildlife refuge, crossing the regions longest suspension bridge, visiting a 500 year old Ceiba Tree, or taking a coffee or chocolate tour.
Within twenty minutes, you can be touring an organic produce farm or having Morpho butterflies settle on your nose at the nearby butterfly garden. All this could happen right before you decide to dip into thermal waters hidden away in the jungle. And this is all, of course, when you are not just hunkering down in your host community to observe toucans, poison dart frogs, leaf cutter ants, parrots, the occasional sloth or monkey, cow, chickens, and more.
Here in town, join in cooking classes or tamale making. Stroll around the very peaceful town or let your children run loose in the plaza, playing soccer with local kids. Attend a fundraiser on weekends, cheering on the local soccer team and trying great, home-cooked food. Engage in community activities with local families and youth. Casitas Joys & Leo is the perfect spot to set up camp while you explore the biodiversity and variety of life and activities that awaits you here around La Flor.
